Darien Hospitality Group is a privately held limited liability company with substantial experience in owning and managing hotels. Bryan Shaughnessy and David Renton are the co-managing partners and formed the company in 1994. The partnership is headquartered in Darien, Connecticut, and employs over 150 people.

The company has won numerous awards for its operations including: Howard Johnson Franchisee of the Year Worldwide; National Award for “America’s Promise”; Howard Johnson Regional Franchisee of the Year; Howard Johnson’s President’s Award twice; Howard Johnson Quality Excellence; Regional General Manager of the Year; Regional Marketing and Public Relations Awards; Regional Alliance Marketing Award; Executive Housekeeper of the Year Northeast Region; Regional Maintenance Supervisor of the Year; Regional Salesperson of the Year; Local Marketing Award for Direct Mail and Hojo Block Party promotions; Spina Bifida Association Corporate Sponsor of the Year 1999.

The company is committed to a goal of assembling a chain of 50 hotels within the next five years located in the northeast through acquisition, development, and management. Criteria include: 75 to 175 room properties, well located to service commercial and resort markets in the Northeast, from Washington, D.C. to Maine. Turn around opportunities will be considered if the location is strong and the market satisfactory. Limited service brands preferred include Wingate Inn, Hampton Inn, Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Fairfield, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express and Howard Johnson. Suite brands preferred include Residence Inn, Homewood Suites, Mainstay Suites, and Hawthorne Suites.
